 MFi  Abelardo Medina – Universidad del Valle de Guatemala

 

            Master Graduate in Finance from Universidad Rafael Landívar in 1999.  Bachelor in Economics and graduate studies in Economics from the Central Bank of the Center of Latin-American Monetary Studies and Banco de Guatemala, 1990.

            His expertise includes basic, intermediate and advance macroeconomics, economic policy, public and fiscal finance, international economics and finance.  He has also taught master level courses at the universities San Carlos de Guatemala and Rafael Landívar.  Among his graduate courses he has taught Basic and Advanced Macroeconomics at Banco de Guatemala – Center of Latin-American Monetary Studies.

            Professionally his expertise includes bank administration, Directors of the Economics School of Universidad Rafael Landívar, academic coordinator for graduate programs, and he currently is the Chief of Department of Tax Statistics, Analysis and Programming.  In 1999 he was Guatemala’s negotiator at the Customs Union Tax Technical Group. He acted as contact point before the Tax Administration Interamerican Center – CIAT (in Spanish).

 

 

 

Area of Management:

 

 MSc Eduardo Alvarez Massis – Universidad del Valle de Guatemala

 

            Did his undergraduate studies at the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala and obtained the degree of Licentiate in Physics.  In 1993 acquired the M.Sc. in Applied Physics at Georgia Institute of Technology with specialization in optics.  In addition he has a specialization in Statistics, Mathematics and Research Operations.  Has worked in related projects of Climatic Changes, Solar Energy, Characterization of Materials, Environmental Problems in the Science of Materials, Optic Applications and models of the same.  Has experience in the areas of Management of Educational Quality and has been in related Central American commissions accredited by the same.

            Currently holds the positions of Dean of School of Sciences and Humanities at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala and Director of the Physics Department.  Has taught in the UVG Departments of Physics and Chemistry.  He has also given classes in the Masters Programs in the faculties of Social Sciences, Education and Engineering.  Has also taught in other universities teaching mathematics, statistics, environmental engineering among others at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at  Francisco Marroquín and Rafael Landívar universities.  Was invited to the Department of Physics at the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala.  Also taught at the Banco de Guatemala (Programa de Estudios Superiores) in the Program of Higher Education; training and consultant for the Implementation of  Quality Assurance to the exporting companies of AGEXPRONT; Chamber of Commerce, Tax Administration Superintendence (Superintendencia de Administration Tributaria)  and other firms.  He has been a consultant in research projects for the World Bank and World Health Organization.  Was director of the Masters Program of Applied Economics and Business Administration of the UVG/TAMU Masters          .

            Among the scholarships and honors acquired is the Fulbright for graduate studies, the Out of State Tuition Waiver from Georgia Tech, and the Third World Academy of Sciences in Physics Award granted by ITCP and UNESCO.

            He is the founder of Fundación Ayúdame a Vivir (AYUVI) Help Me Live Foundation – Hospital for the Treatment of Cancer in Children.  He is a member of the following associations: American Association of Physics Teachers, Georgia Tech Alumni, Optical Society of America, and the International Society of Optical Engineering.  Also,  member of the National Commission of Joint Implementation, and expertise in the subjects of Carbon Fixation and Mechanisms of Clean Development.  Member of the Team of Experts in Transference of Technology of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

 

 

 

 MAEB Carlos R. Paredes – Universidad del Valle de Guatemala

 

            Obtained his MAEB masters degree in Applied Economics and Business Administration at UVG in 2005, an MS in Petroleum Engineering at Kansas University in 1981 and his Licentiate in Industrial Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Rafael Landívar, Guatemala

            Ing. Paredes incorporated Universidad del Valle de Guatemala staff in 1994 as an hour professor progressing with time up to occupying positions like Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.  His experience is in the areas of Mechanic of Fluids, Economic Engineering, Financial Administration and Strategic Planning.

            He has written several articles that have been published in the Guatemalan newspapers which were presented in national events.

 

 

 

 MA Alvaro Reynoso – Universidad del Valle de Guatemala

 

MA with a specialization in Total Productivity from ESEADE, Universidad Francisco Marroquín/University of Miami, MBA from Virtual University of EAE, Barcelona, Spain; Certificate Examiner from Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award.

            Professor at the Graduate School of Economics and Business Administration from Universidad Francisco Marroquín and Coordinator of Productivity and Total Quality Area in the Master’s program of the same institution.

            In charge of the design and implementation of training and education programs in the areas of Quality, Administration of Total Productivity, Technology and Re-Engineering.  He is the current director of StrategylinkÓ for Latin America; a company dedicated to give consulting and implementation services of strategy and performance software.  He has many years teaching and consulting experience in the areas of productivity: strategy and balanced scoreboard, consumer and employee satisfaction, salary management, organization and methods, industrial engineering, competitivity, human resources management and others.

            Member of the International Society of Productivity and Quality Research (ISPQR), American Society for Quality (ASQ), Balanced Scorecard Collaborative (Bscol), Tablero-decomando.com and the International Association for Knowledge.  He participated in the 8th World Productivity Congress in Sweden, 1995; world congresses of International Society for Productivity and Quality Research: 6th International Conferences of ISPQR, Miami, USA, June 1997; 7th International conferences of ISPQR, Houston, USA, June 1998; 8th International Conferences of ISPQR, Vaasa, Finland, June 1999; and 9th International Conferences of ISPQR, Jerusalem, Israel, June 2000.  Also participated as speaker in the seminar “Human resources systems based on competency: the new integrating focus,” INCAE, Costa Rica, March 1998, III National Congress on “In Search of Competitiveness,” San Juan, Puerto Rico, August 1998, 53rd World Quality Congress, American Society for Quality, Anaheim, California, May 1999, II Regional Congress IV National Congress of Quality and Competitiveness, San Jones, Costa Rica, August 2000, I Latin American Congress for Competencies Management, Lima, Peru, August 2001; and 9th World Human Resources Congress, Mexico DF, May 2002.
